Seriously, I have to say that my own cycling has resulted in meeting a lot of interesting folks (including DC lawyers) and enduring friendships. I think cycling requires so much focus that we are joined by the effort and all the other stuff--jobs or lack thereof, incomes, language, domestic issues--move into the background for a few brief hours. I will never forget Mountains of Misery or Mountain Mama (although I only did the latter once and the former four times) as highlights of my time in the United States and the hills of Virginia.
